Dr Malcolm Anastasius

Dr Malcolm Anastasius graduated from the University of New South Wales Medical School, Sydney, Australia with Honours. He completed his cardiology specialist training at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, University of Sydney, Australia. He then attained a Masters of Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology) and a PhD (Medicine) in the field of high density lipoprotein metabolism and atherosclerosis at the University of Sydney, funded by a University Scholarship.

Dr. Anastasius then undertook overseas training throughout North America, in the field of cardiac imaging, including fellowships in advanced cardiac imaging (cardiac CT/MRI) at St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, Canada, echocardiography research at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, United States, and then echocardiography and structural heart imaging at Mount Sinai Hospital, NY, United States.

Following this training, Dr Anastasius joined as faculty at Mount Sinai Hospital, in position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Diagnostic, Molecular and Interventional Radiology; Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, USA. He has specialized experience in cardiac imaging (echocardiography/CT/MRI) and, interventional echocardiography for guidance of structural heart interventional procedures including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, mitral valve and tricuspid valve interventions, left atrial appendage occlusion, ASD/PFO closure and alcohol septal ablation

Dr. Anastasius has completed certification examinations in echocardiography (United States National Board of Echocardiography), cardiac CT (Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography) and cardiac MRI (European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging), and has co-authored over 70 peer reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. Dr. Anastasius is currently a Staff Specialist at Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital, and VMO at Macquarie University Hospital and North Shore Private
